Facebook to Remove Embarrassing Photographs Permanently!

Attention Facebook users. There is a good, no, in fact great news for you! The world’s most popular and the highest used social networking website has finally decided to allow you to remove all your embarrassing photographs permanently from the website after keeping them for ages, much to the chagrin of users.

Till now, although a user could remove images that are on his or her profile, removing them from other’s Facebook profiles was not possible. Moreover, even if someone had the direct link to the picture, the same could be viewed by people. Now, a deleted image will be permanently removed within a minimum of 14 to a maximum of 30 days from the moment a user deletes it.

The issue of embarrassing photographs was raised first by a 28 year old Cambridge Student who, discovered that the pictures which he deleted from the popular social networking website, were still there if he accessed them directly using the original link of the image. Although it is a welcome change, the masses have said that it took Facebook a pretty long time to do something that is actually very simple. In fact, it should serve as a lesson for other companies that privacy changes should be incorporated from the very first in the website.

A recent research suggests that almost 87% of companies verify a candidate’s social media profiles to know more about them and also to see if he is a team player or if he or she has the capabilities to lead a team. And a whopping 69% of candidates have even suggested that they have faced rejections because of a stray comment, like or photograph on popular social networking websites.
