About the Platform

Candidly

Candidly has been created on the foundation of our interest in helping people enjoy their conversations with friends and acquaintances. Direct and physical communication often result in doing away with the virtues of subtlety... that 'fleeting' moment when something hilarious or romantic or crazy took place!

It’s a platform that let’s people connect through disappearing images and videos with text and voice messages, played-back creative doodles and group albums of shared memories.

Founded by serial entrepreneur, Vinay Bharathwaj.

Whom do we cater to?

People who are socially active, who love to share and who have an evolved sense of humor.

Candidly

What do we offer to our consumers?

An application that helps make communication fun; a platform that brings them together (via their phones) to create archives or shared memories and visual conversations.

What motivated us to start up?

We had a perennial startup bug. We have always believed that mobile (and wearable tech) is the new digital equipment and will become ubiquitous very soon. Candidly is an attempt to leverage people’s behaviors to create a dynamic user group.

What's in a name?

We wanted the name to be something that sounded light-hearted and reflected our viewpoint - sharing is about happiness.

How do we see Social Media?

Sooner rather than later, “social” will not be referred to as “media”. It will be all-pervasive and omnipresent.

Currently we are....

Our team has remained small – we are just 6 people. Our consumer base has grown to about 9,000 users within a span of 2 months.

Our biggest challenge was..

Getting our understanding of consumer behavior right and making image messages disappear from the receiver’s device if so chosen by the sender.

We want to dominate the world by..

There are no lofty plans. We just want to have a couple of million users by June 2014.

We’re making moolah by...

Nothing on the cards yet but there are various monetization models that we are debating upon. Once we cross half a million users, we will begin to think of monetization.

Industry as we foresee

There will be no boundaries between media and devices.

Lastly, Are you hiring?

No. But we are looking for active feedback-givers who can help us improve Candidly. There are rewards in store for them.
