Instagram reveals India centric data
Over 90% of local Instagrammers are under 30 years old. Indians on Instagram are mostly young, mobile-first users with high spending power, reveals a study by Instagram that reveals insights.

Instagram also said that its monthly actives in India have more than doubled over the past year (as of September 2015). Instagram continues to build momentum and has grown to more than 400 million users this year. Among the last 100 million to join Instagram, more than half live in Asia and Europe.

Kirthiga Reddy, Managing Director, Facebook India, said,

“Instagram is the creative canvas for a young, passionate and mobile-first Indian community. People come to Instagram for visual inspiration and we are thrilled to offer solutions that create value for the Indian community and drive impactful business results for businesses of all sizes.”

A few interesting points were highlighted in a study by Neilson. More than 80% of Indian Instagrammers use their phones to click the pictures they post. They are avid travelers and around 50% of them have been on four vacations in the past one year.

The most active Instagrammers fall in the 18-24 age group. Instagram plays an important role in the online shopping experience of Indian consumers.

Online shoppers follow their favorite brands on Instagram to keep in touch with the latest products, learn about deals and shop for products online. 50% of them frequently purchase products and services from the brands they follow.

Most of them show interest in music, travel, food, photography, technology, fashion and sports.

Indians use Instagram to express themselves artistically among like-minded people, follow celebrity trends, discover information and updates on new trends, discover and share food and travel options and connect with friends.

This September, Instagram opened its platform to businesses of all sizes around the world and rolled out its suite of advertising solutions.

Instagram's enhanced ad formats, targeting and buying options help advertisers drive the results they care about — from raising awareness to driving action. Indian advertisers on Instagram include P&G, Nestle, Paper Boat, Grofers, TrulyMadly Matchmakers, Sportskeeda and more.
