Andheri railway bridge collapsed

Yet another incident occurred in Mumbai, as a railway bridge collapsed early in the morning shutting the Western Line commute from Churchgate to Virar and Harbour Line commute from Andheri to CST.

Gokhale Bridge near Andheri station collapsed today shutting down the Western Line and thus disturbing the local commuters. However, no casualty was reported and passengers were safe too, all thanks to social media. The authorities as well as the citizens took to Twitter to address the issue in thier own ways.

A railway bridge named Gokhale Bridge near Andheri station collapsed today due to heavy rains. Due to the debris on the railway tracks, Western railway Line was dysfunctional.

As soon as the official twitter handle broke out the news, thousands of users started their day in their own style. Some helped and cautioned the people whereas some criticised and blamed the BMC!

However, Western Railway has sent out help messages and started helpline numbers too.

It also completed the task on war footing and started the Harbour line too.

Falling planes, burning buildings, broken roads and now collapsing bridges.. I don’t know what else is in store for Mumbaikars. God Save Mumbai!!
