X has broadly propagated freedom of speech since Elon Musk took over. Hence, the app now will include a dashboard for political ads being displayed to open up spaces for political discord. Since 2019, political ads were banned on the platform which was then lifted to show cause-based ads in January 2023.

The platform will also put a transparency label, specifically for posts that have limited restrictions due to users trying to manipulate voting. X mentioned that this label is to make it visible for users to see. This feature was installed for restrictions  ‘due to attempting to deceive or threaten people out of using their right to vote.’

This could help the platform to increase its advertising revenue ahead of the US presidential polls. X has also been sharing its ad revenue received with creators and news organizations subscribed to X Premium.

However, recently, several high follower accounts were suspended as they were found to have manipulated the metrics by ‘selling/purchasing post or account metric inflation – selling or purchasing followers or engagements (Reposts, Likes, mentions, X Poll votes)’.

The platform has strongly condemned manipulation to gain profits through its revenue-sharing programme. X has stated that it is important to create a level playing field for creators who earn on the platform.

Alongside this, it has also made the ad payout period visible on the dashboard. Ad revenue sharing on the app is a recent feature that helps creators earn on the app, which will help content creators use the platform as a job.
