[Infographic] The Numbers Behind #IceBucketChallenge, Men Contribute More than Women

In the past few months, Ice Bucket Challenge has received a lot of traction from people all across the globe; and celebrities have been no exception- from Oprah to Bieber to George W. Bush to Mark Zuckerberg - all of them have taken the challenge to show their support for ALS.

As always we were interested in finding the data and numbers behind this trend to know how it is spreading far and wide.

With Simplify360's analysis, we found that there have been more than 2,86,00 videos posted on YouTube alone. (as on 28th Aug 2014).

Total mentions are over 7.5 millions in just the last 30 days and around 166 thousand in the last 24 hours and around 75% of it is contributed by Twitter. Another 2.8million tweets have been made in the last 30 days.

Ice bucket Challenge

One common observation is that men have contributed more than women globally (54%) as well as in India (74%) and the popularity is mostly among the age group of 21-30 years.

Countrywise, USA has contributed for the majority of buzz followed by UK, India, Thailand, Singapore and Netherlands.
