Instagram launches Ramadan-themed campaign and filter

Instagram has rolled out an Instagram Ramadan filter and campaign for users to take the goodness of this month online.

Acts of kindness and celebrations during this holy month can be shared with the hashtag #MonthOfGood.

The first-ever Ramadan camera effect by Instagram called, Lantern, features the iconic traits of Ramadan that can be recognized, even by the people who don't share the same culture like the crescent moon, Arabic ornaments, and more.

The effect has multiple layers and you can tap the screen to move to a traditional crescent design effect or the option of English or Arabic Ramadan greetings.

In the wake of heart-breaking videos of violence against any community being surfaced on social media platforms, this filter restores the purpose of social media platforms of 'bringing people together'.

The month of Ramadan inspires refraining from bad deeds and promoting manoeuvres of generosity. Such instances can be shared on the platform along with the celebratory posts using the #MonthOfGood hashtag.

Speaking about the launch of the campaign and filter, Samer Jamal, Strategic Partner Manager, MENA at Instagram, said, "Instagram is a diverse, global community and Ramadan is one of the biggest cultural moments celebrated on the platform.
