Heli Ved embarked her vlogging channel after being inspired by another creator on YouTube. The spur evoked has resulted in various visuals ranging from Fashion to lifestyle and more.
Heli’s hauls have pulled over a hundred thousand followers till date. She shares her content has an edge by being unfiltered. More of such notions are shared by her in this interview.
Looking back, where did it all begin?
It all began when a student fresh out of school found all her answers with a stranger on YouTube, be it about fashion or about friendships. It took no more than 2 weeks for that stranger to become my virtual sister when I binge-watched all her videos. It evoked a string force of motivation in me to create such a bond with other young girls and share all the tips and trick up my sleeve.
What’s in the name?
It’s after my name itself, Heli Ved which means ‘love and affection’ in Kutchi. I want people to resonate with me as a person which is why I went with my own name and not a virtual username.
What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?
My USP is reality. The typical Mumbai Hinglish, the street shopping hauls, the Paisa Vasool quotient, the lazy day vlogs, discovering quirky and affordable stationery and the simple gharelu beauty hacks is what my channel stands for. My content gives an edge by being unfiltered, real yet something new.
Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?
I create what I like to consume. Being an avid consumer of YouTube videos, my taste keeps changing as a viewer in terms of video pace, style and content. This way I never run out of ideas. As for the production process, it’s a mix of shooting with the help of a tripod to shooting with the One Digital Entertainment team that has been a great support system. Not only for production but with ODE I’ve been able to grow immensely in different aspects of my careere because of help from professionals at ODE.
How do you make moolah with your efforts?
Most of my wardrobe and makeup vanity is filled with things which were recommended by my favourite YouTubers. This made me aware of the trust that my viewers have on me. Brands seek such authentic relationships between a digital creator and their subscribers. Exposure and market creation is achieved when they or their product is talked about. In exchange for such placements, I charge a fee. I prefer working with brands which I’ve been using since years as my experience is drawn out of anecdotes from the past.
How do you maintain editorial objectivity with the influx of brand briefs?
Editorial objectivity is a prerequisite from my end in a brand campaign. We discuss this in the incipient stages of finalising a collaboration. I prefer making integrated videos over a 5 minute long dedicated product video.
One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile
A viewer once messaged me saying that she was battling a severe illness and watching my videos would make her really really happy. She would watch my videos sitting with her grandma and sent love on her behalf. This was around the time when I had lost my own grandma and this particular conversation filled me with unprecedented bliss as in their message they’d sent that she was not only her but my grandma too.
Weirdest brand brief/request ever
To make a video only with the items I loved from all the ones that they’d sent. If there was any product of mediocre or sub par quality in my opinion, to leave it out and not talk about it. Basically they wanted a sugar coated promotion.
If not blogging, you would be?
In the creative field itself. I would choose between being an actor or a designer be it interior or fashion.

My personal brand will be a place where people come for comfort. I aim at creating merchandise based on the foundation of simplicity and utmost utility. As for my digital products, I aim at keeping the creation process the same but the topics will be dynamic depending on what my audience is seeking answers to.
