Want designers globally to create clothes in all sizes: Aashna Bhagwani

Aashna Bhagwani talks about how her content on 'Body Positivity' inspires women globally, motivating them to love and appreciate themselves.

Aashna Bhagwani, in conversation with Social Samosa, talks about her journey of inspiring women across the globe through creating a safe space for women in all shapes and sizes.

Looking back, where did it all begin?

I grew up with my grandmother who owned a fashion boutique back then. So I was always surrounded by clothes and different fashion styles. Even at that time, I knew that I wanted to grow up and do something in the world of fashion. So, I studied fashion designing, marketing and pursued all kinds of jobs in the field of fashion.

Being a plus size girl, I loved trying out different kinds of styles but also noticed that there is no variety in the plus-size industry. Hence, I knew if I was struggling to find something for myself a lot of other women went through the same. Then, I did some research on blogging. Seeing some potential growth in this industry, I decided to start my own blog in 2014. That's when my journey began!

What's in the name?

If you use your name to your advantage, things change overnight. I started out with a different name and after 5 years, it is now called, aashnabhagwani.com because my audience connects to me on a personal level. Hence, I decided to make my name, my brand for the best representation.

What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?

Since I have started blogging, I have seen so many upcoming bloggers! I pursue ‘Body positivity’ which is a safe space for me and my audience to enjoy fashion irrespective of our size, color, and appearance.

Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?

I work with a lot of national & international brands. Depending on the concept, I go through a brainstorming session with my team. We jot down ideas, set a theme and work around it. Post shoot, when the pictures are ready, we strategize a social media marketing plan. Getting the best engagement is our motto.

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile.

I am lucky to have multiple experiences like these. I receive countless DMs from women all across the world where they shower me with the sweetest messages. They tell me how I have made an impact in their life by preaching body-positivity and establishing their self-confidence. When I meet my followers, it all makes it worth it.

If not blogging, you would be?

I would be doing something in the world of fashion. Creative director, visual merchandiser or a designer.

A day in your life…

Being my boss means every day is quite different but it starts with - Masala chai followed by the gym. Later I reply to emails, engage in shoots, sit through the editing process and attend meetings. I spare time for my family and friends. The day only ends with Netflix.

Message/tips for upcoming bloggers.
