Alex Schultz

At Facebook since 2007, Alex Schultz has helped strengthen the company's products, marketing and inclusivity efforts over the years.

After Antonio Lucio's departure from helming the company's global marketing team last month, Alex Schultz has been named the new CMO at Facebook. Until recently, he was the VP of Product Growth there. Since joining the company in 2007, Schultz has been promoted through the designations of analyst, manager and director, all in the domain of marketing and analytics.

"My background is direct response online marketing and analytics. I did that as a hobby at high school, helped pay for college with it and it’s been my whole career from eBay in the UK, to Facebook in the USA today. I have grown up in online marketing and believe deeply in the economic empowerment it can bring, its ability to show people more tailored, relevant, less annoying ads, and the fact it allows us to serve everyone by offering our products for free," he wrote on Facebook, announcing his promotion at the company.

Further, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity and showed faith in the good that Facebook's products are capable of. "I believe social media is a force for good in the world and am proud of the work we’re doing to make it even more so," he said.

He also touched upon the safe and inclusive space that Facebook offers its employees. Schultz is an alumni of Magdalene College where he studied Natural Sciences, specialising in experimental and theoretical physics. He started his journey as a marketing professional at eBay in 2004. Currently at Facebook, he is also the executive sponsor of Facebook's LGBTQ+ resource group and will continue supporting them.
