Messenger Halloween

The virtual reality experiences on Messenger have been launched as users continue to be socially distant in the face of the pandemic this Halloween season.

The virtual experiences for Halloween on Messenger include artworks, AR effects, 360-degree virtual backgrounds, scary filters, and haunted houses coming to life.

Haunted houses or Halloween mansions can be experienced through the themed rooms with 360 degree animated backgrounds, and AR effects in the Messenger camera, on video calls, and in Messenger Rooms. A different themed room would be introduced each week through the month of October.

Halloween themed stickers for chats would also be introduced. Several AR filters have also been created in partnership with Universal Pictures and Crash McCreery, character and creature designer from films like Jurassic Park, and Pirates of the Caribbean, and more.

The filters and effects also bring movie characters into the experience, and in a Messenger Room or on video calls, users can also clothe themselves as Frankenstein or Bride of Frankenstein, and more.

How to enable these experiences:

  • Open the Messenger app
  • Start a video call
  • Create a room, or take photos using the Messenger camera
  • Tap each of the features at the bottom of your screen
