Keeping it simple is the preferred process to create content by Jayshree Bhagat for her Makeup Review & Beauty Blog. In this interview with Social Samosa, she shares what goes in the making of a beauty influencer.

Read on to know, a day in her life, one instance that made it all worthwhile, and a lot more.

Looking back, where did it all begin?

It all began in 2013, while I had nothing to do. All alone at home! Used to spend all my hours reading reviews and articles and a sudden click in mind- why can’t I write about my passion and things I love? In fact, I started with some other blog initially, but many things went wrong and I started this blog by slowly getting into the new things.

What’s in the name?

Initially, I thought the name “MAKEUP REVIEW & BEAUTY BLOG” will just be restricted to beauty, but slowly and steadily I knew my audience and started creating content accordingly and now my blog genre is Beauty, Fashion, Parenting, and Lifestyle.

What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?

Keeping it simple and genuine that the audience can actually connect to. No hyped pictures and write what’s trending and loved by my audience.

Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?

Content creation is the most basic part of blogging and needs to be done very thoughtfully. I try to add my personal pictures, own experiences and sometimes include even my family to show the real thing.

How do you make moolah with your efforts?

Well, let’s admit, all bloggers love to earn a bit for their hard work and why not? Sponsored posts and brand collaborations are my sources.

How do you maintain editorial objectivity with the influx of brand briefs?

As I said, content creation is the basics of blogging and at the same, it has to meet your audience and brand requirement. I try to understand both and very thoughtfully create them to suit my blog aesthetics. So understanding and relating is the key!

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile

I have blog followers of 9000+ and nothing makes me happier. This also inspires me every day to create a unique content knowing that so many people are actually following, reading, loving and also waiting for my write-ups. Even a simple Hi on Instagram, Insta Stories, Questions, Facebook Comments, Blog Comments, Pinterest Shares, Twitter Likes… means a lot to me and is enough to make my day. I feel like a celeb!

There has been a time when people recognize you when outside without an introduction, and also know about my real life like my baby’s name, our new home, our travel journey… this feels simply great.

Weirdest brand brief/request ever

There are many, let’s not name them. It is their way to advertise things. So leave it!

If not blogging, you would be?

A Businesswoman

A day in your life….

Call me a multi-tasker! Trust me being a mom and a blogger is the most hectic job but definitely enjoyable at the end. Being a freelancer gives me the freedom to work on my passion at my own pace, but there are a lot and lot to be done… Motherhood, Blogging, Household Chores, Cooking, Handle Social Media, Follow Email, Take Calls all these together gets very hectic sometimes.

Thankfully, I have a very loving and caring family that help me complete all these and always support me.

Message/tips for upcoming bloggers

Be real, you can get influenced but don’t imitate. Create content that you love and stick to your style. Make sure to add your personal experiences and pictures for better connectivity. Always set a new goal for your blog and be ready to learn new things coming up. Lastly, your well-written content will just be forgotten until you spread them all over the Social Media and connect with people.
