Bhuvan Bam has given you a lot of laughs with his vines but do you know how he crafted his passion into a full-fledged career?

The 25-year-old started his career when frustration with India media prompted him to create a satirical video on Facebook. That video received a whopping 15 VIEWS. That's right! But the man persisted and today BB Ki Vines has a Diamond Play Button on YouTube and that isn't even the biggest achievement, for the list of accolades simply goes on.

In an interview with Social Samosa, Bhuvan Bam shares his journey, his mission, and what next.

Who are we?

BB Ki Vines Private Limited is a Private incorporated on 12 April 2017. It is classified as Non-govt Company and is registered at Registrar of Companies, Delhi. Directors of Bb Ki Vines Private Limited are Padma Avnindra Bam and Bhuvan Bam.

My journey...

Before YouTube, I was performing at restaurants and this one time I was checking the video quality of my Nexus 5 when I saw a peculiar news report. Floods had hit India and one lady lost her son in them, so this reporter asked her, “So how do you feel? You lost your son in the flood”. I mean, how can you ask someone a question like that in a moment of loss?  That is when I made a funny video on it and uploaded it on YouTube.

What’s in the name?

There was a time when Vines were at their peak and I used to keep seeing them on my Facebook feed. So I thought I’ll name my channel BB Ki Vines (BB meaning Bhuvan Bam).

Our mission statement

The purpose of our content is to bring to light the things that happen in an average Indian middle class household in an exaggerated manner. My content is meant to be relatable and youthful.

We create content for?

We are proud of

One of the music videos we produced Rahguzar we had about 500 BB Ki Vines fans in the video. They sang along with us in the video and we got about 6.7 million views. Other than that, our short film that won a Filmfare ‘Plus Minus’ we’re really proud of that because it’s the most recognised piece featured on my channel.

Our WTF moment

When we had around 2 million subscribers on YouTube, we didn’t know the kind of fan base we had if we would be seen in public.

So, when we went to a mall 2 years ago in Udaipur to launch a YouTube app, I just posted a story saying “Udaipur Tomorrow” and the next day when we got to the venue, there were 20,000 people in the mall just to see me.

There was a stampede literally, escalators were broken down. I got on to the stage with 400 people glued to me, it was crazy because nobody knew where we were going to be, it was a secret! We were even chased by fans throughout our Udaipur journey.

Stay tuned for...

My future plans are to make more short films, to make more music, there are more music videos lined up. I’m also writing a series that is an elongated version of BB Ki Vines. A lot of things are in the pipeline, some big episodes of Titu Talks are also on the way. In the future, we are only looking at carrying forward what I’ve created and make better content.

Are, you hiring?

Currently we are not, but if we are, you’ll know ☺
