Dharmendra Pradhan’s social media presence can be broadly divided into parts — one where he talks about his work with and at the ministries he heads and the second where he communicates as a leader representing his state. The languages he chooses also reflect the same, much like Sadananda Gowda. Though he is not active on Instagram, he frequently posts on Facebook and Twitter, updating his followers about his schedule.

Sharing a slice of work

Much of the imagery created by Dharmendra Pradhan is a staple to political communication. There are images of his meetings, speeches and the events he attends. He often shares updates related to schemes and other works undertaken by his ministry. Often his posts include creatives to promote the works of the petroleum ministry. Another set of posts that make the bulk of his social media presence are creatives that reflect the rhetoric put across by Bharatiya Janata Party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government at large.

Pradhan’s social media presence reflects his efforts to be a part of the lives of people who have elected him. There are two parts to this phenomenon — one where he acts as a Union Minister responsible for a ministry and other, which forms a big share of the pie, is where he highlights the heritage of the state he belongs to, especially the Rath Yatra. Other prominent images include planting saplings and launch events.
