Facebook updates Facebook Stories with a Slideshow button to enhance its usage on the social networking site.
In its latest update, Facebook has added a Slideshow option for Facebook Stories to encourage engagement with the feature. Slideshow Ads were introduced on the platform in 2015. With the addition of the Slideshow option on Facebook Stories, the users can add a stream of still images to play out as a series in their Story Frames.
Matt Navarra, a social media expert, highlighted this update in his tweet.
This update would make it easier for the users to add stories, especially for those who are less familiar with the feature and seldom use it. Presently, it is still possible to add multiple images to the stories on Facebook. However, the Slideshow option provides a simplified way to add a multitude of images to it and boost the usage on the platform.
Facebook data predicts that stories will soon overtake the news feed in terms of engagement on the social network in 2019. The platform’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg said, “We expect Stories are on track to overtake posts in Feed as the most common way that people share across all social apps.”
Facebook is trying to boost the usage of Stories on the platform. Users are often prompted to share their news feed posts on stories. Another engagement hack is when the users are prompted to view a story on the desktop, even if they have already checked it on mobile.
With Instagram stories, already a popular medium amongst the user, stories on Facebook might seem like a natural advancement for the platform towards boosting engagement.
