Instagram is testing a way for users to join a private chat from Stories with the Instagram Join Chat Sticker.
A user inviting their followers to join a chat can tell them what it's about via the prompt 'What's this chat about?' The interested ones can then request the person inviting to join the chat.

Instagram recently also was testing a new communal video viewing option which would allow users to watch video content on the platform with a co-viewer, while also seeing them on the screen, watching their reactions – all in real-time.

Facebook has always been suggesting public or closed groups on the basis of pages you've liked or interacted with, with the recent tests, Instagram also seems to have been focussing on building and thriving communities on the platform.
While users on the platform, may feel more connected to their peers on the platform with such experiences, brands can monetize better with such features.
