As part of the platform's ‘We Are In The Making’ campaign and in the run-up to Meta Fuel For India 2021, Instagram has now announced its 25 Under 25 Instagrammers of India.
This year, as part of the platform’s marketing campaign, such creators have been recognized by highlighting their success across media formats. Now, ‘25 Under 25 Instagrammers of India’ is another step as part of the same effort by Instagram.
The list is meant to represent the popular creators on Instagram, who’re exploring and expressing themselves, telling their communities stories, using Reels, and encouraging others to do the same too. The list that can be viewed on a microsite has been selected by a set of judges, along with Instagram. They are Sara Ali Khan; creators Kusha Kapila and Masoom Minawala; Nikhil Taneja, co-founder, and CEO of the youth media company, Yuvaa; GV Prakash, popular music composer for Tamil and Telugu movies, Aju Philip, co-founder of the influencer marketing agency and Manish Chopra, Director & Head of Partnerships, Facebook India.
Manish Chopra shares more context, “Reels has transformed the way content is created and consumed on Instagram and given rise to a whole new wave of young creators. This list is our way of recognizing and celebrating them. I’m glad and thankful for the jury, for bringing their knowledge and experience in selecting this diverse and inclusive list of 25 creators. We look forward to engaging with them, and many more like them, to further support and augment the creator ecosystem in India.”
Actor, Sara Ali Khan, also commented, “I’m constantly amazed and enthused by the creativity that people are showcasing on Instagram. With Reels especially, it’s great to see new and young faces that are constantly breaking out with their transitions, trends, and challenges. I’m happy to have played a small part in selecting the creators who’re part of this elite 25 Under 25 list. It was an absolute privilege looking at their accounts and I’m taking inspiration from them, for my upcoming Reels too.”
Highlights from the 25 Under 25 Instagrammers list include:
- Creators from Patiala to Chennai, and Ahmedabad to Darjeeling
- From beatboxer Surya MKR to mental health advocate Divija Bhasin, and from trans activist Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju to entertainment sensations Rupa Ram and Sagar Pop - people representing varied interests
- Regional language creators like Kushal Mistry, from Ahmedabad, who creates content in Gujarati
- Storytellers like Harshleen Jhan, focusing on SFX makeup at 26k followers, Tanya Balchandani creating fast-paced beauty transition content at 87k followers and robotic dancer Gurpreet Singh at 59K followers
