X is ready to introduce audio and video call features to enhance the app.
X, previously known as Twitter, is going to add a new feature of placing audio and video calls within Direct Message of the app. X would not require phone numbers to aid this feature, however, it would focus on prevention of spam calls through restrictions.
Designer at X, Andrea Conway shared a picture of the feature on her personal account introducing the new feature. The call option is located at the top right corner of X's DM menu.

The new feature is supposed to be available in a few weeks, and would likely be different from the non-premium subscribers. Non-subscribed users, already have limitations on the number of DMs and tweets per day.
Users will not be required to share their phone numbers to access this feature.
