Vivek Das has stepped down from his position as Managing Partner at EssenceMediacom.

He was heading the agency’s Media Futures Group and overseeing operations centered around Google across India and Southeast Asia. Das’s departure concludes a relatively short but impactful tenure at the GroupM agency, which he joined in June 2024. A replacement has not yet been announced by EssenceMediacom.

His exit comes amid significant changes within parent company WPP. Last month, GroupM was rebranded as WPP Media. Soon after, CEO Mark Read announced plans to step down by year-end. Just a day prior to Das’s resignation, WPP Media went through another organisational restructuring.

Before joining EssenceMediacom, Das was the CEO of Zoo Media and its digital agency FoxyMoron, leading the company through a growth and transformation phase. He left in February 2024 and took a brief break before joining GroupM.

Das is most recognised for his 13 years at Mindshare, where he eventually became Vice President and Head of Consulting, Data, Analytics, and Technology. He contributed significantly to developing data-driven media strategies for major clients such as Airtel, Nokia, PepsiCo, Ford, and HUL.

Throughout his 20-year career, Das has held leadership roles at firms like Wunderman, Omnicom Media Group, ISHIR Digital, and Webchutney. He is widely respected for his expertise in combining media strategy with analytics and marketing technology, as well as for promoting DEI, mentoring, and inclusive leadership.
