IIGC Launches Legal and Mental Health Support Initiative for Influencers

The Indian Influencer Governing Council (IIGC) has introduced IIGC Protect, a new initiative aimed at providing influencers with access to legal education and mental well-being resources. The programme has been developed in collaboration with two partners to address the growing need for structural support in the influencer ecosystem.

Trilegal, the law firms, has joined the initiative as the Legal Knowledge Partner. The firm will work with IIGC to produce legal primers covering essential areas such as brand agreements, advertising regulations, intellectual property rights, data privacy, artificial intelligence, and specific financial obligations for finance influencers. In addition to written materials, the programme will host interactive workshops that respond directly to questions submitted by influencers.

Commenting on the partnership, Yogesh Singh, Senior Partner and Head of Corporate Practice at Trilegal, said: “As the digital economy matures, influencers, brands, and platforms are navigating increasingly complex legal and regulatory landscapes. We support Indian Influencer Council Group (IICG)’s aim to equip all stakeholders (brands and influencers alike) with essential legal knowledge, so that they are able to make informed, and responsible decisions.”

On the mental health front, IIGC Protect has partnered with United We Care x Adayu – A Fortis Group Company, which will serve as the initiative’s Exclusive Mental Health Partner. The collaboration will facilitate mental well-being support services for influencers, including self-assessment tools to measure the impact of mental health interventions on content performance. The initiative will also conduct Well-being Huddles, a series of webinars where influencers can engage with practitioners from United We Care.

Ritu Mehrotra, Founder and CEO of United We Care, said: “The lives of influencers may appear glamorous, but it comes with unseen emotional and psychological demands. Our partnership with IIGC allows us to extend mental health support into the daily routines of creators, making care accessible, and deeply personal.”

Dr. Samir Parikh, Director, Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences at Adayu – A Fortis Group Company, added: “Mental Health needs to be prioritised and we all need to come together as equal stake holders to ensure that mental health support is available for everyone. The role of technology in making mental health accessible unlocks the reach.”

Sahil Chopra, Chairman of IIGC, said: “With IIGC Protect, we’re helping influencers navigate the complexities of legal and mental health challenges and by joining hands with Trilegal and United We Care x Adayu – A Fortis Group Company, we will ensure that influencers have access to trusted guidance.”

As part of its rollout, IIGC will host a dedicated session on IIGC Protect at its upcoming event in Bengaluru on 28 June. The session will focus on key aspects of the initiative and offer influencers a first-hand opportunity to engage with the programme.
