YouTube is rolling out an updated version of its Advanced Mode within YouTube Analytics, aiming to make the tool more accessible to both novice and experienced users. The platform says the redesign prioritises simplicity and improved navigation, with new features intended to help creators better interpret their video performance data.
One of the most notable updates is the introduction of a new left-hand sidebar, enabling quicker access to key performance metrics. Users can now more easily filter analytics by geography, content type, and revenue source. A refined metric picker allows for selecting and deselecting multiple data points simultaneously, and a content search function lets users locate videos by title, duration, or publish date.
“You can search and find useful breakdowns of your channel performance, like geography, content type, and revenue source,” YouTube said in a statement. “With the metric picker, you can choose the metrics you want to see… and apply filters to narrow down the most relevant information.”
The update also introduces the option to save frequently used reports, such as the “Traffic Source” report, for quick future reference. Additional reporting tools include a “Top Moments” feature to identify high-engagement segments within videos, as well as first 24-hour performance snapshots for recently published content.
New comparison elements allow users to assess individual video performance over time and against other videos on the channel. These include audience demographic breakdowns and various cross-video analysis tools to aid in content strategy development.
While the underlying metrics remain unchanged, YouTube says the user interface improvements are designed to enhance the discoverability and usefulness of existing data. The updates are expected to roll out over the next several weeks.
Creators can access the redesigned Advanced Mode via the Analytics section of YouTube Studio.
