Facebook launches a feature to support charitable causes

Drives is a new Community Help feature enabling users to collect essentials such as food, clothing, and other necessities for the ones in need, users can offer or request help through the feature.

The feature is a part of the Season Of Giving campaign by Facebook. It has been rolled out in the US and will be available in more countries in the coming days.

New fundraising tools will also be made available on Instagram. Users can also start a fundraiser of their own or share or donate to an existing one, through the already available donation tools on Facebook.

Facebook is planning on testing a feature for users to create and share nonprofit fundraisers directly within their feed. The company claims 100% of the profits would go directly to the organizations, with the donations processed by Facebook Pay.

Along with fundraising and collecting essentials, users can also offer or request blood donations through the Community Help features.

Facebook will also be hosting a fundraising event on Facebook Live called 'Peace Through Music: A Global Event For Social Justice', to mark the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, with performances and appearances by Aloe Blacc, Billie Eilish, Becky G, Carlos Santana & Cindy Blackman Santana, Killer Mike, Ringo Starr, Skip Marley and more.
