Users on Facebook and Instagram would be able to add licensed music from the record label to the social experiences such as Stories and Reels, with the new deal between Tips Industries and the social network.

Apart from the association with Tips Industries, Facebook had also signed deals with other music labels such as T-Series Music, Zee Music Company, and Yash Raj Films, in 2019 to launch their music-integrated features such as Lip Sync Live, Instagram Music, Lyrics, Music Stickers, and more.

Facebook and Instagram now would also be able to choose from the catalog and albums of music from the label, for Posts and Stories.

"Millions of Facebook and Instagram users across the world will now be able to add Tips’ music to their stories and videos for them to create and share. We hope Tips’ music helps the users to express themselves, make their content premium, and make some beautiful memories," Kumar Taurani, chairman and managing director at Tips Music, said in a statement.

"This partnership with Tips Music strengthens our music offering by bringing the very best of the 90s. Together, the popularity of songs in their catalog and new features from us like Reels presents an exciting opportunity for creators, and we're glad to be partnering with them for it," Manish Chopra, director and head of partnerships, Facebook India, said in a statement.

Music labels are becoming warier of copyright infringement since the rise of short-format video apps and the use of music in social media posts. However, licensed music seems to work both ways, to gain engagement on the social media platform, and to gain popularity for the song. We may see more of such deals between labels and platforms in the future.
