Adobe has announced a significant expansion of its generative AI platform, Firefly, introducing a dedicated mobile app and unveiling new collaborative tools and model partnerships. The update extends Firefly’s capabilities beyond image generation into video, audio, and vector-based outputs, making the tool more versatile for creative professionals.
The newly launched Firefly mobile app is now available on iOS and Android. It allows users to create and edit images and videos using AI, with functions like Text to Image, Text to Video, Generative Fill, and Generative Expand. The app syncs with Creative Cloud, enabling seamless transition from mobile to desktop apps such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
Accompanying this is the launch of Firefly Boards, currently in public beta. The tool aims to support team-based ideation, functioning as an AI-first moodboarding interface. It allows users to remix uploaded video clips, generate new footage using models from Adobe and its partners (including Google’s Veo 3, Luma AI’s Ray2, and Pika 2.2), and edit images via conversational text prompts.
“Creators continue to impress us with the breadth and artistry of the images, videos, graphics and designs they’re dreaming up in the Firefly app using models from both Adobe and our partners,” said Ely Greenfield, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. “Our goal with Firefly is to deliver creators the most comprehensive destination on web and mobile to access the best generative models from across the industry, in a single integrated experience from ideation to generation and editing.”
Adobe has also expanded its AI model ecosystem. New model integrations include Ideogram 3.0 (Ideogram), Ray2 (Luma AI), Gen-4 Image (Runway), Flux.1 Kontext (Black Forest Labs), and text-to-video capabilities from Pika. These sit alongside existing partnerships with OpenAI and Google, whose Imagen 3, Imagen 4, and Veo 3 models are now accessible through Firefly.
To ensure attribution and transparency, Firefly continues to attach Content Credentials to AI-generated assets, clarifying the use of Adobe’s or partners’ models.
Adobe noted that over 24 billion assets have been generated using Firefly tools to date. The company reported a 30% quarter-over-quarter growth in user traffic, with paid subscriptions nearly doubling. First-time subscriptions reportedly rose by 30% in the same period.
