Palin will be responsible for building the firm’s digital thought leadership, internal digital adoption and lead client strategy, execution and analytics. Besides, Palin will scout for opportunities to incorporate reputation management and digital marketing.
With more than a decade years of experience, Palin has handled award winning digital campaigns of clients across verticals ranging from IT, automobile, technology, government bodies, food, and travel sectors. He founded the India PR Blog in 2006 which ranks among top PR blogs globally. Palin has written extensively for key blogs such as Mashable.com, Desicritics and New Communications Review.
He also found the ‘Network of PR Professionals’ group on Linkedin, which is one of the most popular groups on Linkedin today with a current member base of more than 21,000 communications professionals.
Palin had led the digital advisory stream at Ernst & Young India, where he was responsible for market thought leadership, client advisory on digital transformation, strategy, and analytics.
Avian Media is a relatively younger organisation than the last three ones in Palin’s career. However, he notes in his blog that the organisation seems to be taking off like a rocket ship – adding clients, winning international awards. He said that Avian Media has attracted good clients and industry accolades in the past few years and he believes it is the right place for him that offers the flexibility, creativity, and culture to help him work towards industry priorities.
As the Digital world is aggressively making its mark in the Indian market, there is huge scope for the PR industry to build their expertise in this space. There is also an increase in the number of clients demanding exposure on digital media and not just traditional alone.
Thus, it is important that agencies have inhouse digital expertise.
Clients are looking at tighter integration of digital in marketing, communication and customer service initiatives with teams that understand business requirements, quality in execution and ideas with substance. Palin added “My priority at Avian Media will be to work on these expectations and take the delivery a notch higher in the industry.”
As much as we have followed Palin’s career, his experience in PR, Digital Strategy across sectors, digital integration, creative content creation and analytics will add a lot of value to Avian Media’s existing capabilities in the digital space.
It is interesting to note that Palin’s appointment gives us a glimpse into what’s hot in PR. Today brands are putting more emphasis on the fact that Digital Media and PR need to live together in perfect harmony.
