What is a Tweetup? It is an event whereby people on Twitter meet in real life. Finally, one can put a face to the name they know and talk to each other in more then 140 characters. So, one can say that it’s kind of like a networking event.
Such gatherings can provide ample opportunities for listening in on hot topics that can help to improve your business, gain advice from the people that have been there and done that and participate in discussions on subjects close to your heart. Here is the list of the 10 archetypes into which we have classified the people whom one may meet at a tweetup.
The Job Seeker
These are the people who fall into the category of ‘in between opportunities’, ‘self-employed’ etc. At such events these people are on a mission.
They are the ones who have undertaken a new venture and are looking out for new connections. They can be identified by talks like ‘What’s that you say?’, ‘You want to invest?’ and so on.
The Sales Person
Well you know how they are. They are smooth, they are sleek and they are ready to pitch in at any given opportunity.
The Social Media Addict
These are the types who are glued to their smart phones/tablets. Even after entering the event they haven’t looked up from their screens. In fact, they might have just added you on Facebook, Twitter and added your photo on Instagram.
The Event Sponsorer
They are the ones who are responsible for the event that’s happening. They are too busy to interact with everyone but want to make sure that you all are having a great time.
The Key Speaker
The one who is supposed to give a speech at the event. They may seem nerdy or even geeky but be careful. They know almost anything and everything.
The Too-Important Person
This kind of person has the look ‘Why Am I Here?’ on their face. He is a very busy man. If you give him your card, dont expect an reply. He will thousands of cards like you and may forget he met you in like 5-10 seconds.
If you have met this kind, then you have learned your lessons. If not, then you will learn it after the next couple of times. These are the kind of people who are not comfortable in a group. They are not really a people’s person you can say. Hence they will search for an easy going personalities and if anyone shows some interest in them, they attach themselves to him/her for the rest of the night.
Well everyone has been a novice at one time. They ask annoying questions like “how does this work?” and “what do we do now?” They try to gel in and pretend that they have been to such an event before.
You might wonder why such a term? Here is the answer. These are the kind of people who will lure you into the most interesting conversations. They are funny and serve as good company. But you will realize that you have spent most of your evening in idle chit chat and nothing fruitful came out of it. You guys may become great friends but remember you’re here to gain something.
