Tinder, released numerous product updates just in time for Valentine’s Day, including GIF messaging to bring the fun of engaging conversations.

Product enhancements include faster messaging, the ability to ‘Like’ messages and larger profile photos that can be directly uploaded from the camera roll.

Tinder recently celebrated its 100 millionth download, arriving shortly after it saw its busiest day in its history on January 3. On this day, the app saw its biggest growth in active users, with the highest volume of downloads occurring in the past two years.

Messaging

Tinder is providing users with the ability to share expressive GIFs from the world’s largest GIF search engine, GIPHY. To add a GIF to any Tinder message, users can tap the blue button to access the collection of millions of GIFs.

"At Tinder, we’re on a mission to create more meaningful connections. With that in mind, we’re excited to give our users more ways to engage with each other and express themselves. We’re tapping into the hugely popular trend of GIFs, powered by GIPHY, and allowing users to interact with potential dates in a more nuanced and compelling way than with verbal language alone” said Sean Rad, CEO at Tinder.

"GIPHY is shaping the future of communication and Tinder is shaping the way people connect. Whether it’s a favorite TV show character, the moment from music videos or irresistible cat GIF, we bond fastest over the content we love. There’s no better match than GIPHY and Tinder" said Adam Leibsohn, COO at GIPHY.

Tinder is also adding a ‘Like’ button to messages, along with large emoji, giving users two new quick and simple ways to communicate sentiment to their matches. Users will also notice improvements in messaging speed.

Profile Photos

Adding greater flexibility to the Tinder experience, users will now be able to choose their Tinder profile photos directly from their phone’s camera roll. Responding to one of the users’ top most-requested features, this will make changing profile photos easier than ever before.

User Interface

As part of Tinder’s ongoing product evolution, the card stack has been refreshed to fill more of the main app screen, optimizing the design for larger touchscreen sizes and the latest operating systems. Users on the iPhone 6S or 6S Plus will also be able to “peek and pop” preview links sent within the messages using 3D Touch.

With online dating becoming a norm in India, Tinder could really profit from some of these updates.
