#Justice4Biswa : Instagram fails to suspend Biswa's fake account even after a year

Instagram’s guidelines have a reputation of being ruthless, regularly taking down objectionable photos and fake accounts, yet at times they fail to comb through everything. Sadly, even after receiving multiple complaints from Biswa Kalyan Rath about an impersonator, Instagram has failed to act.

Have you ever had 24 thousand followers on your Instagram account? No?

Have you ever had someone create a fake Instagram account under your name? No?

Biswa Kalyan Rath has the joy(not) of experiencing both of those things.

And did we mention that he complained about it almost a year ago? That's right. Still no action.

We found three separate tweets from Biswa Kalyan Rath’s Twitter handle, complaining about an impersonator who is operating an Instagram account under his name, complete with a blue tick and more followers than most of us can ever amass.

No action has been taken, and the account is still active with some of the most random pictures I have ever seen on an Instagram profile.

Somebody impersonating me on Instagram. My only account is rathbiswa on Instagram. Please report the other accounts. Thanks

It’s strange yes, but how scary do you think it is? If it can happen to a celebrity who boasts of several thousand followers on pretty much every social media platform, who’s to say it cannot happen to any of us?

If Biswa failed at drawing Instagram’s attention to the matter by specifically mentioning them in his tweets, how can any of us feel safe on Instagram?

Although the account is not being misused, yet is a matter of grave concern and a serious case of identity theft.
