“Trust your instincts and find your sisterhood”, promptly says Koval Bhatia from A Little Anarky Films on the secret to becoming the superwoman. With almost a decade of experience in content, Bhatia highlights the power of womanhood, the gender-biased industry, and more.

How would you define a Superwoman in today’s day and age?

We’re already superwomen. The amount of multitasking, balancing, constantly having to live up to everyone’s expectations: that’s what superheroes do. Every woman I know does this.

One quality that you think every superwoman has and that helped you win Social Samosa Superwomen…

Not letting the guilt, the conditioning, the pressures get to us. You do what you want, you think of yourself as a person and not a role to be played in someone’s life. I’ve learned that over the years. That, and a really really unshakeable sense of humor. That’s my superpower, to be honest.

How successful have women been in shattering the glass ceiling in the Media & Advertising field? Does the ‘boardroom inequality’ phrase still stand true?

It’s getting better, but then again, we have a really long way ahead of us. The major power positions and decision-making roles are still held by men. The money is controlled by the men. We might have started becoming more visible, but the real power still rests with men for the most. Boardrooms are still a male space, and we are yet to achieve parity.

What are the key changes this industry needs in order to make workplaces gender-neutral, safe, and nurturing?

Acknowledge that things have been terrible, for starters. Address how deeply ingrained patriarchy and casual sexism are at workplaces. Most people still exist in denial or want to downplay how awful things can be for women. First, we address the issue and articulate its existence, and that itself is a huge step.

One Superpower you wish you had?

I don’t want any!

The ‘Superwomen’ you diligently follow and who inspired you…

All the women I’ve met in my life have made me feel pretty good about being one.

One tip to women out there attempting to scale heights…

Trust your instincts and find your sisterhood. Women are the best support structure women can have.
