Blogging should be considered an independent profession, feels Nidhi Arora

Nidhi Arora

Brand briefs come with commands but Nidhi Arora feels one can instil their creativity and stick to the deliverables at the same time.

With ChicLifeByte, Nidhi Arora makes it a point to live and let live, bringing forth insights about fashion, travel, food and the who’s who of the world. In conversation with Social Samosa, Arora explains how she enjoys writing the most for she feels it completes her.

Looking back, where did it all begin?

I was always passionate about writing and used to pen down instances in my everyday life. My love for food, fashion, make-up, travel is never-ending and I thought of integrating everything together. Hence I started ChicLifeByte with my siblings Shilpa and Shubham.

Through the blog, I fulfil my dreams and hopes with a never-ending will. When I write I find peace and when people read I find contentment. The positivity flows and opens new dimensions of trust. It opens doors for a dialogue with my followers whose positive feedback encourages me to write more.

What’s in the name?

With different aspects which we cover through the blog, we wanted a name which resonates the same. Chic means Fashion, Life means lifestyle, Byte means food as well as news.

ChicLifeByte is a 360-degree approach where we write what is hot and happening giving insights of food, fashion, beauty, fun, travel and lifestyle. Covering all aspects, giving our followers bytes of news from social angles to the fashion gurus to information dose of what is latest and new in the news in terms of fashion styles or statement jewellery or clothes or maybe the people. Basically, giving the readers the right kind of news from all angles making it beautiful, descriptive and clear with our words and yes most important good photography too.

What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?

I have enjoyed writing more than anything else because that’s what completes me. Our unique content plus our photography is our USP. Both go hand in hand. Each one is incomplete without each other. To talk about content, I write from the heart and that what touches people’s heart. I go descriptive and sometimes poetic. It’s all in the way of thinking & I think I am different and born unique.

Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?

Creating content is passion and poetry for me. I love to write. I write what people love to read and I choose to be as descriptive as possible. I tell my readers in my own way of writing which comes from the heart.

I believe in the ‘Power to think and power to write’ and follow my heart! I write what I think is right and makes sense to keep it relevant and realistic. Readers appreciate and understand and not judge and reciprocate. Positive efforts stay relatable and give great results too.

How do you make moolah with your efforts?

For me, it’s more about living my passion! Money flows in if you put dedication in your passion, however, it’s not an easy task. A lot goes behind what the readers see on social media and blog- sleepless nights, deadlines, outfits, makeup, photography, editing and endless work. We work in a team of 3. I, my sister and brother and we together put in a lot of effort to make each campaign a success!

How do you maintain editorial objectivity with the influx of brand briefs?

By writing creative, descriptive content which people love to read keeping in mind the tastes and preferences of today’s youth and culture.

Brand briefs come with commands but I instil my creativity sticking to the deliverables. My heart, mind, soul and logical thinking all put together, I write whatever pleases my soul and whatever people would like to read and understand. I always write from the heart, which touches people’s life and soul making a difference in their life.

Whether I am promoting plus size fashion or the latest restaurant in town, I put in all my heart and effort in it keeping the essence of the brand alive.

ChicLifeByte makes it a point to live and let live and bring insights from 360-degree angles right from fashion to travel to food to who’s who of the world making it a point to give the right dose of information to the viewers. Along with beautiful photography and glimpses of future withholding different aspects of life.

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile

Experience has made it all worthwhile and I am glad that I have given plus size fashion a different dimension. I am healthy and overweight and I know how people look down upon you when you are overweight.

Even being plus size, I never shied away from wearing what I like. Obviously I know what looks good on me and what doesn’t. With and my social media, I can showcase different pictures of myself in fashionable outfits, accessories, shoes because of which people look up to me and consider me their role model. Being plus size is no more shameful its a blessing because you have more power, you have more of you to love, you have more to give, more bubbles of laughter and more cheerfulness and happy dimples. That’s what I tell to encourage people who are plus size ..that size, it does not make you small or large, it’s your thinking. Just think larger! Expand your thinking and horizon!

Weirdest brand brief/request ever

I recently collaborated with an eyewear brand, a normal brand would ask for the most fashionable and glamorous pictures wearing their products, but this brand was different. With the aim of giving back to society, they asked me to talk about a deed of kindness or do something to give back to society. Initially, I found the idea weird but then I loved the concept and I spoke about Body-Shaming a topic which is very close to my heart and I have personally dealt with the issue.

If not blogging, you would be?

I have been a make-up artist before being a blogger and I continue to spark my creative instincts in the profession. Make-up is an art which inspires me to make the world more colourful and bright.

A day in your life…

A day in my life is a ballgame or rollercoaster. I wake up between 6 to 7 AM, see the sunrise, do stretches, hear music, have breakfast with mom, laze around and then check the schedule for the day.

Depending on the event or a shoot I need to attend, I decide my outfit, make-up etc and head out. When I am back in the evening, I again spend time with my mother over snacks updating her about my day. A lot of time is also spent updating things on social media, unboxing PR packages, writing blogs, social media content etc. Apart from work, it’s also catching up with friends over the phone, listening to music or exercising followed by TV and then dinner and retiring for the night.

A lot of my energy comes from my little brother who is the most amazing human being in my life and he keeps me going the entire day with messages and GIF’s while he is at college.

If you think blogging is only about posing and clicking pictures…you are wrong. There is a lot of hard work and dedication required and one needs to consider it as an independent profession.
