Tarun Wadhwani

Loving the concept of dabbling across content types, Tarun Wadhwani has trained himself in skills ranging from photography to celebrity PR.

For Tarun Wadhwani, a regular day consists of planning, strategising and execution. He tries to set goals and commits to achieving them methodically. One of his favourites things about being a blogger is the flexibility that comes with it and the ability to multitask is his biggest strength.

Looking back, where did it all begin?

It all started in the year 2009, when I was still a student and really passionate about social media. I took the path less trodden then, and I'm really grateful for that now. The journey began with trending Twitter content about movies and current affairs. My first big campaign was on Twitter as a strategist for the famous song “Kar Gayi Chull” from the movie Kapoor & Sons with Sony Entertainment. With my own blog in place in the year 2012, I forayed into my Instagram journey in 2014. I haven't looked back ever since! It has become my passion with more love for exploration every day. It was all one-man show, and the struggle has been absolutely worth it.

What's in the name?

It’s a competitive world out there and if one has to stand out as an icon, he has to connect really well with the audience. Luxurious Tarun Wadhwani stands for who I am. Someone who dabbles in different types of content, from celebrity PR to fashion and food! The name highlights my versatility as a content creator.

What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?

Since the beginning, I have loved to innovate and venture into various fields of content. From event photography and celebrity shoots to celebrity PR and much more, I've dabbled in all of it and it's been an enthralling experience. For instance, I have created some innovative travel content on St. Kitts and it was a really beautiful experience. I use all my learning to keep my audience engaged with creatively drafting and presenting my content. I believe for an influencer diversity and creativity go hand in hand, and that's my USP. My audience has loved my vibrant work and I’m so thankful for that!

Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?

I believe in keeping it spontaneous and fun, but at the same time extremely professional. My followers must relate to whatever I create and love it for the uniqueness and touch of individuality that I bring. I always brainstorm when I receive a brief and put it to good use for making my content more real.

How do you make moolah with your efforts?

My strategy has always been keeping a balance between originality and adding value to brands so that both parties benefit mutually. I've explored the food industry and it has added a great value to my profile. I've built a strong community and focus on creative food pictures that include a touch of me! More creative thinking always gets better engagement and love from the audience, which in turn reflects in earning more moolah!

How do you maintain editorial objectivity with the influx of brand briefs?

When your work reflects who you are, your originality and individuality, it always stands out differently. I try to make my content inspirational and rational, both! So, brands love it for professionalism and vibrancy, and people love it because I always do it in my style, which they love and connect to.

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile?

There have been many, but one of my biggest achievements has been receiving the award for being the "Most Active Blogger" by Bajaj Alliance for the best Tweets in 2017. It was a moment of great pride to have been awarded at the event! Hard work definitely pays off. Such achievements have definitely motivated me, but I find the most inspiration in the endless faith my followers have in my work. It pushes me to aim higher!

Weirdest brand brief/request ever.

I once had a collaboration request for a hair spa, that offered a free blond makeover and it wasn't in sync with my content, so I never went ahead with it.

If not blogging, you would be?

I have had a long-standing association with the celebrity world through my love for PR and photography. I'm passionate about modelling and acting too, so I would have definitely made my mark in that arena.

A day in your life...

My day is very eventful as I love taking briefs and then manage my schedule accordingly. It majorly involves three key things — planning, strategy and execution. I set my goals and commit towards always giving my best. I take my time to understand brand briefs and love the flexibility. Multi-tasking is one of my biggest strengths.

Message/tips for upcoming bloggers

Passion is something that is extremely important as it drives us in the right direction. Also, before starting a blogging journey it is important to understand the basics of blogging and create your own originality. The key is to follow trends and make your own impression with your creativity! It is important to stay 'new' and explore new ideas always in your own way instead of comparing with others.

Your Favorite Influencer

Inspiration has come to me from my favourite influencer is Nikhil Sharma from Mumbai. Being a true YouTuber and a huge influencer for the youth today, he spreads great energy and a very relatable vibe that the audiences truly connect with. I love how he actually shares his slice of life moments with people. It's been an enriching experience meeting him twice.

The Future you foresee for your Personal Brand

Foraying into the future with more positive energy and aiming higher with focus on giving back to society in more creative ways than one. My agenda is to keep exploring new horizons and spread positivity with real content that sets new standards.
