Kuliza Acquires Crowdnub, Adepto’s Social App platform

Kuliza, a digital technology firm that builds web, mobile and social apps for brands, today announced the launch of several mobile and social media tools for marketers and ecommerce players. The company also announced the acquisition of Adepto’s social tool Crowdnub to enhance their offerings.

Crowdnub offers the richness of a custom-app with the convenience of a SaaS platform. This app is used by leading Indian brands such as HDFC Life, Saint Gobain and HomeShop18 to create rich Facebook campaigns.

Crowdnub will become part of the new comprehensive set of digital offerings by Kuliza, including:

MobiChirp A tool to build rich, ‘native-app style’ mobile marketing campaigns that require no user downloads

Echo – A tool to increase Facebook referrals

Elevate – A tool for brands to identify and profile their most valuable and monetizable Facebook fans. Elevate gives a comprehensive picture of where and how Facebook fans are engaging with the brand – on Facebook and the brand’s site.

Adepto Solutions was founded by Kiran Kumar and other exGooglers in 2010 to build innovative social applications that businesses could use to reach their audiences more effectively. It was an ‘ET-Power of Ideas’ finalist in 2010 and secured a grant from the Department of Science and Technology.

Adepto had raised $300K funding from Blume Ventures in June 2011. Recently, Kuliza also received Strategic Investment from Blume Ventures.

In February 2013, Adepto was selected into the Microsoft Accelerator program (now called Microsoft Ventures).

Here’s what Kiran Kumar, CEO of Adepto had to say about the acquisition.

“As we studied the market and honed Crowdnub, we realized the landscape was changing fast and brands’ social marketing needs would be better served by a more holistic solution. So it made sense to align with Kuliza who was building the other pieces. We are happy that Crowdnub has made Kuliza’s offering more robust,”

Kaushal Sarda, who was recently promoted as the CEO of Kuliza commented,

“For several years Kuliza has worked with leading brands to create effective mobile and social campaigns. We used these experiences to build a suite of smart social and mobile tools to support marketers. Crowdnub enables marketers to quickly and economically create effective Facebook campaigns and we are delighted to add the tool’s functionality to our new offerings,”

In 2011, Kuliza acquired the talent of social media product company Gizapage to grow capabilities in the space. But Kiran Kumar mentioned in a blogpost that the acquisition of Crowdnub is a pure tech acquisition and not a talent acquisition.
