Social Media Tool Feature: Oogwave – A Private Content Collaboration and Communication Platform

About the tool!

Oogwave is a private content collaboration and communication platform, helping a group of people to get their work done faster. It provides one place to share, communicate and track things, making it easy for you to be in sync with your team.

Who all does the tool help?

Oogwave works beautifully for a group, a single team or multiple teams within a company when a working group consists of 5 or more people. The more people in the group, the more effective it becomes. Customers use Oogwave not just to collaborate, but to centralize their knowledge too, helping in self discovery of content across people and devices.

Who founded the product/company?

Noida based Oogwave was conceived in March 2011, while the founders were running their first venture in enterprise cloud ERP space – IIT graduates, with over 10 years of IT experience.

Originally, the aim was just to provide a secure place in the cloud to store content centrally and provide real-time chatting for a team, while many tools provided the option for personal use. But in last 18 months, as we have seen in adoption, Oogwave has gone through 4 major iterations, to make collaboration more meaningful, that allows not just sharing but getting things done, in a simple way.

What platforms does it cover?

Oogwave has come a long way from small team focus to supporting an entire company as a whole, where multiple teams can work together within and across teams. Though private for a business, Oogwave take a leaf out of social media’s book, allowing people to track those activities and the type of content they are interested in. Users within the tool can follow or unfollow content and topics (not people) to be in sync with the things that matter most.

We have also successfully integrated with personal tools like Dropbox, Google Drive and, for quicker adoption for small businesses that have been till now using these personal tools for their official purposes.

Features of the tool?

Oogwave has 4 core features, with many small features. The Main features of the tool are Group Messaging and Chat, Group Files, Group Discussions, and Group Task Plans.

These enable you to work as a group – with internal co-workers, or with partners outside your company. These 4 features cover the majority of the activities that we usually do working together as a group.

Every file, content and conversation within, can be tagged, to link similar content for faster discovery as you and your colleagues work. Oogwave also offers comprehensive administration and a controls feature to manage users, content, and behavior. You can also measure adoption, growth and top members via network analytics.

Oogwave is also focused on providing local support in various countries and is available in 8 different languages. As we grow in the APAC region, we plan to introduce support to more languages.

Currently we have around 4,000 active customers, including startups, large teams of household names, and SMBs. As we work with them, we are improving and adding more predictive intelligence to our platform, to make it easier for people so they can work even better and faster.

Pricing and Packages

Oogwave offers the simplest pricing in the collaboration platform space. It’s free for the first 20 users, ideal for small groups, startups and businesses. This is where everyone starts.

After 20 users upto 100 users, it’s a flat price of $49/month independent of the users’ number, and only after 100 users, it goes to a $3/user/month pricing.

We do offer comprehensive discounts to NGOs and Educational institutes.

Road Map

The future plan for Oogwave revolves around mobile and tablet devices. We are working to launch our new App across the platform, with the new experience that will allows users to not just consume information, but actually work more effectively using the Apps.

Another area of interest is to integrate social media in a meaningful way, to help users know what’s happening outside their private network for topics and their field of interest, while they work on things within Oogwave.
