In 2010, Twitter introduced the concept of hashflags and has bought it back this cricket season. Hashflag is a hashtag with the three letter abbreviation of a country along with its flag.
The hashflags have been around for the greater part of the last five years.
The ICC tweeted these hashflags for the #cwc15, garnering a lot of buzz around the ongoing cricket world cup. As we all know, social media has changed in a big way since the last world cup, in which India was victorious.
