Facebook restores faith in humanity
Contributing to Nepal’s skirmish against nature, Facebook activated its safety check feature empowering citizens of the impacted areas to mark themselves as safe, while being able to check the safety of their loved ones.

The feature received massive applaud from Facebook users around the world. The move comes as a restoration of faith in humanity, especially after a lot of brands tried to leverage the disaster as a marketing gimmick.

“When disasters happen, people need to know their loved ones are safe. It's moments like this that being able to connect really matters,” Zuckerberg said on his Facebook page.

Facebook users in Nepal and affected areas of India were sent a notification requesting them to mark their safety. It also gave the option to check on other Facebook friends and users in the same areas.

Facebook launched the Safety Check feature in October, 2014 as a byproduct of Facebook’s disaster message board.
