Samsung has never been afraid to take potshots at Apple directly in their events or through their commercials and they have always been brilliant at it. Once again, they are back with their latest ad titled Growing Up and it highlights that how Samsung is always a step ahead of iPhone in terms of features and innovation.

The ad effectively manages to make fun of iPhone’s storage problems, iPhone’s historic lack of water resistance, iPhone 7’s missing headphone jack, iPhone X’s controversial notch design, and much more.  It has been packaged in such a manner, where they highlighted the historic iPhone shortcomings, while positioning Samsung Galaxy devices as the obvious choice.

The ad follows the life of a young man as he purchases Apple devices over the course of ten years, each time waiting in an excruciatingly longer line and then decides to switch to Samsung on the eve of the iPhone X launch.

According to reports, when Samsung had launched their ‘Next Big Thing’ ad campaign, where the company poked fun at Apple customers, Phil Schiller, Apple senior VP of marketing emailed Tim Cook to suggest a change of agency to fight back.

Last year, when there were numerous accidents being reported of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 exploding, Apple took advantage of it and released an ad, where they took brutal digs at the former.

Taking advantage of this war, Nokia Lumia also released their commercials against Apple and Samsung.

Blackberry and Apple had also mocked each other in their ads

There have been numerous litigation cases between Samsung and Apple over the last 10 years. Ss per reports, Apple believes Samsung, once a close manufacturing partner, and Google, once a close services partner, learned from the iPhone how to make a modern smartphone and then used that knowledge to clone the Android-powered Galaxy S series. There are also reports on the internet of a 132 page internet document which shows that how the Samsung employees were asked to copy iPhone pixel by pixel.

Apple recently won $120 million from Samsung in the slide-to-unlock patent law suit. Reportedly, the initial ruling was delivered in 2014, and while Samsung was able to overturn the verdict back in 2016, a federal appeals court reinstated the original ruling few months later.

It is a never-ending war and they have been no signs of it ending anytime soon. It is surely one of the most fieriest corporate wars in the history of the last decade, costing both the companies more than billions of dollars.
