Instagram video-tagging

Instagram is testing a new feature which would let users tag a person on an uploaded video. User may tag people appearing in the video or the ones they want to notify about the post.

Although this feature would work in a different way for videos than photos. The tags wouldn’t appear with one tap on the post, like it did for photos as videos aren’t still. Instead, on clicking the tag option, users will be taken to a list of  ‘People in this video’ "with all the Instagram users who have either appeared in the video, or who the original poster wants to alert in some way," says a report by techcrunch.

This feature wouldn’t be available for the desktop version as it’s app-only for now. Initiation of this feature is not confirmed, for now. Also, unlike photos which appear on the tagged profiles as well, videos shall not appear on the profiles of users tagged in a given video.

While Instagram has not confirmed on any plans around the future of this feature, it said the following in a statement. “We’re always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and bring you closer to the people and things you love,” a spokesperson confirmed, in a statement.

The feature has been rolled out to a select few and is in the testing phase at the moment.
