— Narendra Singh Tomar (@nstomar) June 29, 2019

Tomar‘s social media presence includes official pages on Facebook and Twitter where he shares updates about his meetings, news pieces and scheme related information that’s essential to the ministries he heads. He extensively retweets the works of his colleagues, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the central government. There isn’t much personalisation to the information he disseminates for it majorly reflects the narrative and rhetoric of the government at large. The profiles exude a sense of official documentation of events of his life as a cabinet minister.

A large part of the posts shared by Tomar is his speeches in Lok Sabha and the events he attends in an official capacity. These act as public announcements and press releases to inform people what he is doing as their representative. He tweets the important parts from his speeches, much like his political contemporaries. His communication has template political aura that can be seen in how most cabinet ministers communicate on social media.

While a dearth of visuals is evident on Tomar’s profiles in regards to him interacting with citizens, glimpses do peek through at times, especially when he makes visits to Morena and Gwalior, his home turf. This help adds a touch of vibrancy to an otherwise information-first profile.

This is a part of the series — Know Your Leader. It’s a series by Social Samosa where we put across a concise analysis of how our cabinet ministers use social media to communicate. You can read all the parts here.
