With Close Friends, Instagram gave you the flexibility to share more personal moments with a smaller group that you choose, as you may not be comfortable sharing all your experiences with your followers.
The new messaging app is an extension to the feature and helps you do more than just share Stories. The app helps you do more than just exchange text, photo, and video messages.
It also invites users to automatically share location, battery life and more. You can also opt-in to automatic sharing and the app will regularly update your status, give your friends an update of your real-time location and more. It might say something like a friend is ‘on the move’.
Apart from these features, the app would also have a camera that lets you shoot photos and videos to share with your Close Friends.
Reportedly, the roll-out date of this feature is inexact. It might also get scrapped before it rolls out like it’s predecessor, Direct.
