Archit Rege loves to experiment with new art styles, but feels he does Vaporwave and CyberPunk best.

Archit Rege, a tech-savvy influencer, shares insights on the future of content, 360-degree and virtual reality formats, and advanced videography techniques. A perfect brief consists of a combination of challenge and excitement, he says.

Looking back, where did it all begin?

It started in my first year of college when I was looking through new apps. I came across Instagram, which was so new back then and had just got launched on the Play Store. I downloaded it to see the amazing pictures people across the globe had to share on the internet. Later, Urbex India came into existence.

What's in the name?

My Instagram handle reflects my persistence to shoot and pioneer whichever genre I set myself to shoot into. Be it Vaporwave, or light painting, my scope is large. Also, this was what people called me in college because of it associated with me when I cleared a subject, that the entire class had failed.

What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?

My content reflects what I feel but hasn't been shared or seen enough. Thus, I experiment with new styles. My USP is Vaporware and CyberPunk aesthetics which are fresh and new in the game right now. It gets the eyeballs of brands to try new things with me. Together, see what can be produced that hasn't been done yet.

Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?

Trying to stay relevant in the content game is like trying to fetch an arrow that's always being shot ahead by the last person. I simply strive to capture images and portray ideas that strike a visual chord in the person's perspective. And thereafter, they have a new approach to what they can call a well-executed idea. I choose my ideas based on how hard they would be, how cooler can they be shown and who is the best person to work with.

How do you make moolah with your efforts?

I make money by creating custom content for brands and artists from different fields who wish to have a futuristic aesthetic style. I also earn from shooting concerts, social media campaigns, and web-based images.

How do you maintain editorial objectivity with the influx of brand briefs?

This is a very important thing to consider as an artist and an influencer because it shows what values, beliefs and the ideological process you follow fit with your personality and creative beliefs. It truly feels magical when you get a brief that excites and challenges you at the same time.

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile

One day I got home from a tiring shoot during monsoon season and my dad was sitting awake while I was having dinner, and he got a text message from a respectable associate of his saying, "This photo was taken by your son." When I read the message it said, 'Mumbai during Monsoons', and it had 10 images of Mumbai, out of which 4 were mine. My dad was never supportive of me being in this field but that day, he said he was happy for me, that meant the world to me.

Weirdest brand brief/request ever

I have an entire list of brands asking me and my team to do weird things in the name of promotion. Once I was asked to go and stand next to a printed banner in the shape of T, take a photo and promote that brand's product on my social media. It's really not cool when brands just decide upon ideas for their campaigns during a contract and ask us to just go along with it. We're cool with exploring their content.

If not blogging, you would be?

A screenwriter or a creative director. I always wished to travel and write fictional content for screens, which I am still pursuing right now. In fact, I have a web series coming up.

A day in your life...

Wake up, drink coffee, respond to emails, schedule shoots, and edit timelines. I reply back accordingly to agencies and PR, scroll the internet for news and current happenings. I watch a few YouTube tutorials and then listen to music for one good interrupted hour.

Message/tips for upcoming bloggers

Don't try to be like someone, be the one who everyone wishes to be. Don't be traditional in your approach. Every idea matters if it when it is executed well. Run behind new things and make time for your mental health and socializing in real life.

Your Favorite Influencer

My favorite influencers are Sam Madhu, Cyberpunk Queen, and I believe Nupur Singh is a fashion diva, who posts content that can be called #travelgoals.

The Future you foresee for your Personal Brand

I can see myself making more video-based content and 360° VR videos. And learning new ways to create things that make and leave an impact on the person on the other side of the canvas.
