Pinterest try on

Pinterest is enabling new ways for users to shop by expanding product tagging on images, being launched in the beta phase, and introducing virtual try-on for eyeshadow.

After rolling out AR try on for lipstick shades to match with the skin tone, Pinterest is now introducing try on for eye make-up with products from Lancome, YSL, Urban Decay, and NYX Cosmetics.

Users can try on and shop beauty products through the iOS or Android app. The try-on is designed to enable users to make better purchase decisions as they discover products and look for makeup inspiration on the platform. The feature powered by Lenses, advances a step further in the visual search and shopping space, by aiding users to find the desired product that suits them.

How to use the AR try on feature

  • Click the Lens camera in search
  • Browse eyeshadows
  • Try on in-stock shades
  • Purchase through the retailer

Users can also use the feature by searching for eyeshadow related queries in text search. Product results can be filtered by color, price range, and brand, or view a 'More like this' section and see Pins with similar shades and filter recommendations by their own skin tone range.

Furthermore, product tagging in beta is being expanded to a few advertisers and creators to enable them to create shoppable Story Pins and tag products.

Pinterest is making product tagging more coherent by adding the functionality for retailers to tag their own scene images with specific products. Creators will have the ability to tag in-stock products in their own Story Pins, in the coming months.

The new features by Pinterest are designed to bridge the gap between product " target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">discovery and online shopping, and facilitating both on their platform, and also substituting the traditional or the pre-COVID shopping experience with augmented reality.
