Vijay will be responsible to provide direction to strategy on Social Wavelength’s existing brand clients as well as for the new client pitches that they do. In addition, as a part of their core management team, Vijay will participate in overall company direction.
Recently, Vijay was heading digital at Edelman, and prior to that, he has worked on the client side at Nokia Siemens Network, and on the agency side, with Urja Advertising.
While commenting on this appointment, Sanjay Mehta, the joint CEO of Social Wavelength said,
“As you would guess, we are believers of wisdom in grey hair. So while we have a superb young team across the board, it always helps to bring in diverse and rich experience.
We have revenue targets for the business, and his appointment, will make us more prepared and confident to reach those”
Vijay has a lot of experience in digital, including social media, strategy, PR, etc. He has both client-side and agency-side wisdom. This might help him understand the clients’ challenges as well as their business goals.
His overall experience adds to the existing team at Social Wavelength. This movement builds pressure on other agencies that have more junior resources or even agencies that have young experienced resources.
Vijay also has a huge following on twitter. His personal brand and his network will also work in Social Wavelength’s favour.
Although Social Wavelength is the only authorized reseller of radian 6 in India, it is a challenge to promote a tool as expensive as Radian6 in the Indian market. Let us see how his Vijay takes up this responsibility to strengthen radian6’s adoption in India.
We might also want to look out how Vijay’s digital understanding and Social Wavelength’s technology vertical will work together to create more campaigns like Reliance tweet a tab or even take it a notch up.
The role of a director comes with great responsibility. Vijay Sankaran will have to strike a balance to meet the unrelenting demand and the cut throat competition in the market.
