Indian Premier League (IPL)

Take a look at the some of the best IPL campaigns by brands over the years.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) kicked off a decade ago with DLF as its title sponsor. Then came Pepsi and now Vivo is holding its hand. However, brands associated with this cricket league aren’t the only ones who try to reap benefits on the side.

Cricket has always been a popular topic among Indians, may it be watching the game together or discussing the minute details. IPL with its T20 format and glitz and glamour has only given this practice wings. Here are a few of the best IPL campaigns we have seen through the years.

1. Vodafone

Vodafone Zoozoos made their first appearance a decade ago and have been since etched in the memories of cricket fans. Simple graphics that tickle your funny bone in between nail-biting IPL matches proved to be a definite recipe for an instant hit.

2. Amazon

Amazon claims to be a one-stop shop for all. So much so that they created an imaginary IPL team to drive their point home. Needless to say, Chonkpur Cheetahs is one of the best IPL campaigns we have seen so far.

3. Pepsi
Nothing works for a brand than to let their consumers feel that they are important. With Crash the IPL advertisement making competition, Pepsi surely nailed it!

 4. Jio
The Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan IPL campaign helped the brand celebrate the unity in diversity aspect of the league while promoting what they aspire their consumers to be - carefree users of the internet.

 5. Kingfisher
Engaging IPL fans using KF Dubsmash proved to be solid gold for Kingfisher. The popularity of Dubsmash at the time was their biggest asset, goodies being a close second.

Click seflies to win prizes — Gionee's gameplan to woo IPL fans with their Selfie Premier League was a quirky way to increase brand engagement.

7.  Manforce
To send out social media messages with sexual undertones and still being topical about cricket matches is definitely not an easy copy writing job! Manforce truly deserves an applause for Intimate Partner League.

8.  Durex

Using sexual innuendos to build topical campaigns come naturally to Durex. With D20 Premier League, they were able to pull off the same yet again — without any kinks.

9. 9XM

Building on the reputation of puns and bad jokes, Chote Bade brought cricket fans an opportunity to win free tickets to IPL matches by answering Bakwaas questions.

11. Cadbury

Cadbury is known for creating topical ads around festivals with under their Shubh Aarambh campaign. Looking at IPL as a festival in India is a brilliant move by Cadbury to further its playful brand aura.
